Shanon Drayton
Designer
Born in Southern California to an artist father and business woman mother, Shanon had an interest in architecture from a very early age. As a child, she would draw floor plans of her dream house and spend hours building houses for her Barbie’s.
She knew she wanted to study architecture in college so after graduating high-school she went to Arizona State University to attend their architecture college, one of the top 5 schools in the nation. After graduating during a recession in 1990, she decided to spend some time in Europe.
Shanon spent over two years in Germany teaching business English, then one year in London working at a design studio, then two years in Hong Kong where she went back to school to the University of Hong Kong to learn AutoCAD, a computer drafting program. In Hong Kong she worked for a landscape architect as well as an engineering firm in the drafting department. After living and working in Hong Kong for a couple of years, she was anxious to explore more of South East Asia.
Phuket, Thailand was her next destination where she started a sports-marketing and corporate hospitality company with two American partners. In addition to running her own company and restaurant, she worked for a local English language newspaper,The Phuket Gazette. At the newspaper, Shanon expanded her computer skills by doing layout design and advertising for local businesses.
Upon returning to Los Angeles in 1998, Shanon had a brief career in advertising before returning to her true love, architecture. Shanon lives and works with her general contractor husband in Los Angeles and has 3 children. Since 2000, she has had the privilege of helping people realize their dreams of a bigger, better home.
